Lakeland
Campground
Lakeland RV Resort
The park had a pickleball court, small pond, and small dog park. It felt more like a trailer court than RV park.
Hiking
Gator Creek Reserve Trail
We loved this place for trail running. Beware there are snakes and gators and sometimes standing water across the path. Mark always runs ahead to clear the path.
Food and Drink
Granger & Sons BBQ
Looks can be deceiving...it was a shack. We tried this because it got excellent reviews and it didn't disappoint. Note that you need to go early in the day because once they are out of food, they close.
Ford's Garage
Great food and atmosphere. It was fun seeing all the creative ways they would use old car parts and accessories.
To make a long story short ...
Stan Green
While wandering around the campground, I came across a guy sitting outside his camper playing an acoustic guitar. He was playing a few songs I also play so I stopped in to chat. He's from Erie PA and plays at the same kinds of places I do and has a lot of the same interests that I do. Stan and I offered to play for the campground one evening around the pool area. It was great fun. We played a few sets together as well as individually. We didn't get paid by the campground but the people that came to watch were generous with their tips. With the tip money, we went to our favorite BBQ joint (see above) and had a nice shared meal with our neighbors.
