Shackles

This is what I discovered after a routine walk-around at a gas station in the middle of Wyoming.

I was able to get in contact with a mobile RV tech who was able to help me out.  This is what happened to the shackles.  It is not common, but also not unheard of.  The factory shackles are 1/8" thick.

All jacked up and supported.  Ready to get to work.

Here's what we ordered.  They are 1/4" thick!

Wet bolts, which means they can "take" grease.

So here's the problem.  Some of the bolts are long, some are short.  After calling the company, they made no offer to send replacements and have us return the "wrong" ones.  They would, however, sell us new ones for $28 each.  EACH!  We could almost buy an entire set for the number of them we need to replace.  Thanks.

These are the places for the bolts.

You can see how much the long bolts stick out.  We were able to use the old, undamaged shackles as "spacers".  All's well!

Here's the YouTube video explaining what we did.
