St. Augustine
Campground
Compass RV Resort
Very nice park. The sites were spacious and the bathrooms were very nice and clean. Great location as it was very close to downtown and the beach. Looks like it is now called "Sun Outdoors".
Things to see
Anastasia Island
Great beach to hang out and enjoy the space and sun. You can drive your vehicle out there; however, use caution as several people got stuck in the sand and we graciously pulled them out. Dogs allowed.
Castillo de San Marcos National Monument
This is the oldest masonry fort in the continental U.S. We weren't able to tour the inside as we had Polly with us. No dog allowed on the inside.
Historic Downtown St. Augustine
Great place to walk around, shop, eat, and see historic sites. Around Christmas time, the entire place is lit up, called the "Nights of Lights". We highly recommend checking it out at night. Dogs allowed.
Ponce de Leon's Fountain of Youth Archaeological Park
It is a fun place to visit and yes, you can drink from the fountain. We all did, including Polly, and it seems to be working! We feel younger and younger as we travel the U.S. Dogs allowed.
St. Augustine Lighthouse and Maritime Museum
Great place to learn St. Augustine's history and get a great view of the area from the top of the lighthouse. Dogs allowed but prohibited from going into the buildings.
Food and Drink
Sunset Grille
We're sure this place has other good food, but why would you want anything other than the chowder fries??!! Yummy.
